With the result achieved in the third quarter, Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), which manages the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói and Angra dos Reis, celebrates its performance in the accumulated result for 2021. From January to September this year , the revenue of the Port Authority had an increase of 81.9% compared to the same period in 2020. The handling of cargo, on the other hand, grew 23.9%, when compared to last year's figures.

The handling and invoicing report of Docas do Rio indicates that cargo handling in the last month of September reached the mark of 6 million tons, being the second biggest monthly movement of the year and surpassing by 6.4% the volume of August. The result of September was driven by the movement of 5.22 million tons at the Port of Itaguaí, which corresponds to an increase of 9.1% compared to last August and 7% compared to September 2020. The Port of Rio de Janeiro, in turn, moved 759 thousand tons, a volume 4.9% greater than that of September 2020, and maintained the monthly average of 2021.

The analysis also highlights that September sales reached the mark of R$ 106.9 million, which exceeds by 106% the sales of September 2020. The value represents the third highest sales recorded this year, in nominal terms, so far . At the Port of Itaguaí, September turnover (BRL 89.2 million) was the second highest in 2021 and, at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, the turnover of BRL 16.5 million in September was in the average line for this year, but there was an increase of 47.9% over the amount billed in September 2020.

According to the director-president of Docas do Rio, Francisco Antonio de Magalhães Laranjeira, the result recorded by statistical data, in the third quarter and accumulated from January to September, is very encouraging: “This is a unique year for our company, thanks to the hard, serious and responsible work of our teams and the operational vigor of our ports, which are being modernized and have been able to contribute to the economic recovery currently underway in the state of Rio de Janeiro and throughout the country”.

For the Director of Business and Sustainability at Docas do Rio, Jean Paulo Castro e Silva, "considering the average turnover in 2021, of around R$ 87.5 million, and excluding the amounts due for the minimum annual movement of 2020 billed in January 2021, Docas do Rio, from a cautiously optimistic point of view, should surpass the mark of R$ 1 billion in turnover in 2021, with the main cargo handled being iron ore, which grew every month of the year."
