Port of Rio de Janeiro receives Chinese delegation and establishes strategic partnership

On last Friday (22), the Port of Rio de Janeiro received a visit from a delegation from the Province of Hubei, China, which was in the city on a commercial mission. During the meeting, PortosRio and Yichang Port Group Co. signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Strategic Cooperation, strengthening the ties between Brazil and China in the port sector.

The delegation was led by Dr. Zhu Fang, deputy director of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Hubei Provincial People's Government and a member of the Party Committee. The group was welcomed by the CEO of PortosRio, Flavio Vieira, and the superintendent of Port Management of the Ports of Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, and Forno, Leandro Lima, among other managers of the Port Authority.

The visitors got to know the port's facilities and operations and participated in a meeting with representatives from PortosRio and the Brazil & China Integration, Development, and Trade Chamber (Cidecom).

On that occasion, the letter of intent was signed, establishing a partnership aimed at mutual benefit, exchange of knowledge, economic and commercial cooperation, and the development of new logistical routes.

According to the president of PortosRio, Flavio Vieira, the initiative strengthens the company's international relations: 'The partnership with Yichang Port Group Co. paves the way for a strategic exchange between the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Hubei Province. This Memorandum of Understanding reinforces our commitment to expanding global connections, attracting investments, and strengthening the position of the Port of Rio as an international logistics hub, directly contributing to the economic development of Brazil and China.'
